The film starts with a calm scene in Anselm Kiefer’s studio in France where the artist is riding his bike.
There is no current interview between the artist and the filmmaker but there are several historical interviews with Kiefer. The viewer can follow the artist’s career over the different studios he had and has in Germany and France.
Some scenes are very impressive: Such as Paul Celan’s citing of his poem “Death Fugue” and the artist’s statements on the meaning of the world nearly at the end of the film.
The film is available in 3D and in 2D.
Wim Wender’s goal was to impress his audience – he succeeded!
