Talk at the Rotary Club Berlin-Tiergarten

It was a pleasure to speak at the Rotary Club Berlin-Tiergarten about my research topic:

The Creators of the Art Market

Who has played a decisive role in shaping the art market and thus our understanding of art over the last 100 years?

The focus of my lecture was the significance of Joseph Duveen and Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney for the art market in the first half of the 20th century as well as the importance of Peter Cecil Wilson and Rudolf Zwirner in the post-war period. My lecture ended with a look at current developments: Price transparency and art as an asset, China’s art market and art by women: A re-evaluation in sight?
